About

kh•iza (fr. Zulu) verb. to rain softly, to drizzle.

In the arid landscapes of South Africa, rain is life and any amount is welcomed with joy and gratitude. In fact, it is often the first light drizzle at the end of the dry season that has the most spectacular effect on the bush.

Fresh blades of grass shoot up and trees erupt with young buds. Flowers appear overnight where a day before bare sand baked in the sun. The bush sings with bird calls and insect chirps, and animal babies start stirring to be born.

Everything is bright and new, cleansed of the winter dust, revitalised. It's this vibrant coming alive that we capture in our artworks to bring into the home on a range of scatter cushion covers, table runners and other pieces. First rendered digitally by hand, the works are then printed on natural, cotton and linen fabrics using OEKO-TEX® certified, biodegradable inks.

All products are made in South Africa and 10% of our monthly profits are donated to The Bush Babies Environmental Education Program to make a contribution to young children's futures and the conservation of that which provides us with our inspiration and our livelihood.
